The toothbrush is one of the most important tools in our daily routine. It helps us maintain a healthy mouth and avoid cavities. However, it’s also one of the dirtiest objects in our home. A study by Dr. Charles Gerba, a microbiologist at the University of Arizona, found that an average toothbrush can contain up to 10 million bacteria per square inch. The study also found that there are more bacteria on a toothbrush than on a toilet seat or doorknob! In fact, toothbrushes should be disinfected before every use and kept in a clean place when not in use.
